Just for fun, this is an interesting experience to do with any oscilloscope with an XY mode.
With this mode, it's possible to display different shapes on the screen. Playing with the frequency brings you the possibility to build complex images and animated sequences.
A good start to experiment this is to use a ready-to-use sound file. The sound board of your computer or music player will convert the digital information of the sound file into an analog signal. Right and Left channel of the audio file are used to generate the X voltage and the Y voltage.

I made the experience with a Textronix TDS320 and a Textronix DPO4034. The resulting "video" is not as good as it should be. I suspect that the sound board of my computer integrate a filter which remove some frequencies. The test could be done with different music player.
